Summer Favourites: Activities

Hey! So after having my rather adventurous time away I decided to do the activities section next.
Great things to do, especially in the summer could be things like ...
- go to the beach
- go camping
- go fishing
- go abroad and try new foods
- go kayaking/canoeing
- go on a road trip
- do something crazy like a bungee jump
- learn to surf
Or could be something simple like ...
- catching up on your favourite TV shows
- go to the cinema
- spend time with your family
- read a book
- go shopping
The best things are the those that make you happy so enjoy the activities that you do this summer, even the little things because being happy and smiling makes a difference.

Being a busy bee

So recently I've been a bit rubbish and not posted anything but I do have my reasons...
- Firstly I got a job! Like an actual job (has a mini celebration)
- Then I had my prom which was amazing and some of the photos are up on my Instagram and tumblr if you are curious
- As of Monday I'll be on a week long residential with my school so I've been a busy bee!
However, the rest of the summer favourites shall be up after my residential.

Summer Favourites: Movies

Hey! This is the second category of 'Summer Favourites'. Within this category there will be suggestions to great summer films that I personally love or would love to see with a short review.

- The Fault In Our Stars (12)
I have recently watched this film (twice) and I cried my eyes out! This is a beautiful film capturing true love and the harsh truth about life and illness. I'd recommend it to everyone obviously within the age limit.

- How To Train Your Dragon 2 (PG)
I have not seen this film yet however I have watched the first film and the trailer and I think it looks fantastic! If you haven't seen the first film, why? Where have you been? And for all you that have seen the first film, congratulations and I'm sure the second is going to be just as great!

- Jersey Boys (15)
I haven't seen this film yet either however the trailer looked amazing and if you love a bit of song and the Jersey Boys, well this is the film for you as long as you are 15 or over!

- 22 Jump Street (15)
This film looks incredibly funny and a great film to start your summer off (plus the added pleasure of Channing Tatum! Who could resist?)

- Bad Neighbours (15)
Yes, Zac Efron is looking gorgeous in this film as usual but he isn't just the highlight of this film as it contains some hilarious content to make you laugh so hard that you cry!

- Chef (15)
I saw the trailer for this film and loved it! It contains two of my favourite elements in it: food and funny moments!

- Bridesmaids (15)
Melissa McCarthy in this film makes me laugh just thinking about it! This film is hilarious and a great way to bring a smile to your face! Go and watch it, I promise you'll love it!

- Big (PG)
This is quite an old film with Tom Hanks in it but he is amazing anyway and I love it! This film contains childish but hilarious moments that truly make you laugh without the rude language involved meaning it is available for everyone to watch!

- The Notebook (15)
This love story is my all time favourite! The chemistry between Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams on and off set is truly magical and I think that is what makes this film extra special! I warn you, you will sob your heart out especially at the end but come on, it's Ryan Gosling!

There are so many more films but there are a few to get you started. If you have seen any of the films feel free to leave your own reviews for me to read and also recommend films for me to watch!

Summer stresses

This summer holds a few changes in my life:

  • Moving house
  • Exams
  • Finishing year 11 and moving on to sixth form
  • Just generally growing up
This is quite a stressful time for me and I'm sure this applies to many others in the same situation but how do we really deal with it? (this does not neccassarily apply to everyone)
In reality we ...
  • Over worry and over think
  • Through stress become more angry and emotional
  • Binge eat/drink
  • Blame ourselves for bad things that may occur
  • Take out the anger and stress on the people you love
  • Lose hope
  • Just give up
When in fact we should ...
  • Take a break - have some 'me time'
  • Talk about it - it always helps to have a good rant
  • Treat yourself
  • Maybe have a spa day
  • Spend some quality time with family and/or friends
  • Watch videos that make you happy - I watch YouTubers such as Joe Sugg and Caspar Lee because I can always rely on their videos to make me laugh
  • Read a book
  • Try to meditate - I know it sounds stupid but it actually helps to calm your mind
  • Go on a shopping spree
  • Get a decent nights sleep
  • And just smile!
So if you feel like you've got the weight of the world on your shoulders and that you just can't carry on, take a break and give yourself some time to recover and gather your thoughts. You'll be able to come back to the world with more confidence and strength to carry on.
